Physical and chemical properties: This product is a low color or colorless transparent liquid, density 1.265-1.270, miscible with water, slightly soluble in ethanol, ether, insoluble in esters, aromatic solvents. Chemically active, glyoxal exists in hydrated form in aqueous solution.
Uses: Used as methyl vanillin, ethyl vanillin production raw materials in the spice industry. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry as an intermediate for the synthesis of antihypertensive drugs atenolol, D-p-hydroxyphenylglycine (a national key pharmaceutical intermediate), broad-spectrum antibiotics, amoxicillin (oral), acetophenone, amino acids and other compounds. It is used as an intermediate for varnish raw materials, dyes, plastics and agricultural chemicals, and can also be used to produce capsule and allantoin as an intermediate for anti-ulcer pharmaceutical products and daily chemicals.
